Bitcoin is Money Freedom, a digital censorship that allows anyone with internet connection to send money to anyone else, regardless of nationality, limits or other arbitrary restrictions.

I personally heard first about Bitcoin in early 2013, through friends who were buying … things from Silk Road, the Darknet market carried by mysterious awe pirates. Although Silk Road was controversial (“Things” that most people bought and sold were, of course, illegal drugs), it represents a radical example of the freedom that Bitcoin provides.

Later in 2013, Silk Road was closed by the FBI, and Ross Olbricht was revealed as the founder of the market and the real identity behind the awe pirate Roberts, a pseudonym – although he claims that many people run the account. Ulbricht is sentenced to a lifelong property in addition to forty years in prison without the possibility of conditional release.

In my view – and on many bitcoin coin – was excessive. Even if you believed that Ulbricht was guilty of everything he owed (all nonviolent crimes), it may be an example of this, and he did not actually deserve to be imprisoned for the rest of his days.

Fortunately, Ulbricht was given a complete and unconditional amnesty from President Trump in January this year. The founder of Silk Road, in a very literal sense, regained his freedom.

This edition of Bitcoin magazine celebrates and highlights the freedom side in Bitcoin with a set of articles and artwork that focuses on people and projects that use Bitcoin to enhance freedom, and those who make this possible … with a special focus on Ulbricht and Silk Road.
