
Rep. Eric Swalwell, a California Democrat who has been a frequent critic of Donald Trump, I filed a lawsuit On Tuesday, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Bolte allegedly abused his power to retaliate against a political opponent of the president.

According to the lawsuit, Bolte accused Swalwell of claiming his home in the District of Columbia as his principal residence under a mortgage agreement to secure more favorable terms. The lawmaker said his affidavit to the agreement made it clear that the home would be his wife’s primary residence — not his home — and that he would remain a permanent resident of California.
A housing agency spokesman and Swalwell’s attorneys did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday afternoon.

His criminal referral of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook laid the groundwork for Trump’s move to impeach her.
