Spain cancels €207m arms deal with Rafael

Spain has announced that it had canceled a deal with the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to buy Litness 5 Pods and Navigation for 46 Eurofighter Typhoon Fighter Jets. The deal signed in March 2024 was worth 207 million euros. To date, Rafael 2000 of this has been presented to 28 army worldwide, and Bundestag’s approval in Germany last month to buy 5 centuries for Eurofighter Typhoon.

This is the third arms deal that the Spanish government has canceled to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in protest against the ongoing war in Gaza. Ten days ago, Spain canceled the purchase of the pulsed artillery system in a 700 million euro deal with Elbit Systems (Tase: ELST; NASDAQ: ELST), which had received Elbit 150 million euros. However, the CEO of Elbit Systems Bezhalel Machlis insists that his company has not received any notification of the deal.

In June, the Spanish Ministry of Defense suspended a deal worth 285 million euros to purchase Spike missiles from Rafael.
