
“Globes” can reveal that after canceling the Park and Ride Car Park, which was planned in Morasha Interchand Northeast from Tel Aviv, the Ministry of Transport will fund Tel Aviv Metropolitan Light Rail Line Southern Line Southern Line from Bat Yam to Rishon to Rishon Lezion. Early in 2020, Transport Minister Miri Regev promised, in her first term, to extend the red line to Rishon Leson. He also supported senior officials in the ministries of transport and legitimacy due to the high demand expected. Two years later, during the Miral Michaili Michel’s period, 100 million NIS were allocated to extend the line by four stations to Moshe Dayan exchange, where a transport center will be built. As part of the planning, a warehouse, maintenance center and parking complex will be built on the underground train. Above the warehouse, the municipality will market land and will participate in the financing of the line. So far, local authorities have not funded national projects in their competence. Industry estimates indicate that, in addition to government financing of 1.5 billion NIS to build the line, the municipality will add between 700 million New and 1.5 billion Newton from land marketing.
The municipality’s participation in the project has almost no precedent in Israel. The mayor of Ramat Hashharon also suggested participating in building a railway station in his city by marketing the land, but the station concerned has no economic justifications, unlike the extension of the Rishon Leson Red Line.
The agreements, which must be reached in the coming weeks, follow the harsh criticism of the Ministry of Transport by the mayor of Rishon Leson Raz Kinslet. “The red line should have been extending from Bat Yam to Rishon Leson, but in a decision no one in the Ministry of Transport, they decided to stop it,” he told the municipal companies conference earlier this month.
He added, “We have announced that we will stop the land marketing. If there is no red line, permits will not be issued and no marketing will be allowed because it is simply impossible without collective transport. I hope they are wise and they understand that there is a need to provide real solutions to transport and not promise the heads of the authorities on the road here and a road there smiles.”
