Project44, the decision intelligence platform for supply chains, announced that it achieved operating cash flow breakeven in the third quarter while achieving more than 40% year-over-year growth in new annual recurring revenue (ARR). This double achievement underscores the company’s rapid recovery from post-COVID challenges and its strong push towards intelligent automation and transportation management.

The Chicago-based company, founded by Jett McCandless, has pushed aggressively into intelligent automation. The company reported tremendous growth. Today, 30% of the company’s ARR is tied to its intelligent TMS platform.

The company recorded more than 40% year-over-year growth in new ARR in the third quarter of 2025, achieving operating cash flow breakeven. These balanced contributions from new logos and expansions among existing customers. Multi-year contract bookings jumped 25% compared to last year, indicating the organization’s deepening commitment to its platform. Project44 has added Fortune 500 clients in the pharmaceutical, broadcast technology, industrial manufacturing and consumer goods sectors.

“This quarter, Project 44 is accelerating as an organization,” McCandless said in the statement. “We are achieving operational financial independence, expanding faster than ever before, and delivering innovations that drive measurable results for clients.”

“This performance this quarter demonstrates how much Project 44 has accelerated as an organization,” McCandless said in the press release. “Project44 achieves operational financial independence, scales faster than ever before, and delivers innovations that drive measurable results for our clients.

Cash flow breakeven was not only the result of tremendous revenue growth, it represented the fruit of a long and painful period of right-sizing and refocusing. In a phone call with FreightWaves, McCandless said Project 44 has taken $118 million in operating costs out of the business, radically reducing headcount from more than 1,200 employees at one time to about 575 employees today. The company also fired more than $30 million worth of unprofitable business, mostly from logistics providers whose net revenues declined after the pandemic, and decided it had to focus on its ideal client: what it calls the “2000 global shippers.”

It’s a remarkable turnaround for a venture capital-backed tech startup that raised $760 million during the blitzscaling and ZIRP era. McCandless said the headcount reduction forced project44 to focus on the customers that really mattered, and allowed the company to ship new software much faster.

The results cap a year of product momentum for Project44, which has transformed from a pure vision provider to a complete decision intelligence suite. Shipping waves covered Launch of the smart TMS system In August 2025, project44 was marked as the first visual player to enter the TMS space. Built on its Motion Platform, the Intelligent TMS integrates purchasing, planning, execution and visibility across modes, using agentic AI to coordinate complex workflows.

Intelligent TMS has quickly become project44’s fastest growing product, with over 150 customers generating over $30M in ARR from Intelligent TMS capabilities alone. Early adopters saw 4.1% reductions in transportation spending and 17% gains in on-time performance, according to the company’s internal metrics.

In Q3, project44 launched a tariff simulator to help its clients navigate US import duties in the midst of the Trump administration’s trade war, and a collaborative workflow that shortened resolution times by more than 40%, but one of the most significant releases was AI Agent Orchestration – where project44 agents handled more than 1 million voice calls and emails in 2025.

The third quarter saw 171 customer engagement improvements across four product groups: Intelligent Transportation Management System, Visibility, Yard Management, and E-Commerce Logistics.
Project44’s Disruption Navigator won the inaugural FreightWaves Award Excellence in artificial intelligence in the supply chain award earlier this year.
