On Monday, Deputy Public Prosecutor (DAG) published Blanche A. note Entitled “Ending the organization with judicial prosecution”, in which he stated that the US Department of Justice will stop the Bitcoin and encryption campaign.
Here is the fine language that he used in the memo:
“… the Ministry of Justice will stop participating in organizing judicial prosecution in this field. Specifically, the administration will not aim to exchange virtual currency, mix services and decline, and governor is not related to the work of its final users or violations of unwanted regulations …”
The next day, James Public Prosecutor James participated in authored letter In which Congress leaders called for the creation of a federal encoding organization, partly to prevent the use of encryption mixers for illegal purposes.
Here is what she and her participating authors had to say about encryption mixers:
“Effective legislation from the coded currency platforms must require explicitly compliance with the laws of anti -money laundering, and to know the client regulations (” kyc “) and cybersecurity protocols to prevent the use of cryptocurrencies to finance terrorism, and should not be allowed to learn. Dollars.”
While Dag Blanche gave the benefit of suspicion of Bitcoin and Crypto Mixers users, NY AG James implicitly that all these mixers are criminals, because they indicate technology as “money laundering mixers”.
Such a language is deeply related to hearing from the state’s public prosecutor – much lower than any lawyer – because it assumes the feeling of guilt.
NY AG JAmes has used this type of discourse about Bitcoin and Crypto since she assumed the general role in 2018, and it is not fair because it is 1) has never recognized that human rights and activists supporting democracy are using mixers to maintain their privacy and the privacy of donors and 2) on the right of financial privacy.
Therefore, since the topic of Bitcoin’s privacy becomes more prominent in the political field, be sure to do your role to amplify the rhetoric that Dag Blanche uses while pressing the dangerous and unfair speech than NY AG James.
It is up to us to make our voices heard on this issue and inform our elected officials that it is important to us, especially with the Samourai Wallet and Tornado Cash (more in cases in discussion below).
The struggle for our right to transfer value online from the private sector is in full swing. Please do not stay on the sidelines.
