Security app company McAfee, which once had a development center in Israel, was acquired by Intel and eventually bought by private investors, is buying an Israeli startup’s privacy app. mineFounded by Kobe Nissan, Gal Golan, and Guy Ringel. McAfee is purchasing an asset, not employees – all of Mine’s employees will continue to work for the company. McAfee is buying a company that Mine wanted to spin off in order to focus on business-to-business (B2B) business.

The companies refused to comment on the numbers, but according to estimates, the value of the deal is several tens of millions of dollars. Main is a fairly small company, employing 50 people in Tel Aviv and Boston. To date, the company has raised $42 million from Battery Ventures, Haim Saban’s Saban Ventures, PayPal, and Google’s AI fund, among other investors. The company’s latest investment round, worth $30 million, closed at the end of 2023, and was led by Scott Tobin, senior partner at Battery Ventures, a veteran of the US venture capital industry who also heads the company’s office in Israel.

The SayMine app for personal users available on mobile stores will be shut down by the end of the year, and the technology will be integrated into McAfee apps. It was launched in early 2020 with the aim of helping users understand where their personal information is stored, and how they can request its erasure, in a user-friendly way. Mine now seeks to focus solely on products for the enterprise market, where it is already active, with clients such as Ford, Wiz, Miro, Shark-Ninja, HelloFresh and Selfridges. Its platform allows organizations to act faster, meet regulatory requirements in privacy and AI, and thus reduce risk without imposing manual processes on IT privacy and compliance teams.
