
The Made Smarter program, the government -backed program with the help of manufacturers adopting digital technologies, launched a new £ one million financing round aimed at accelerating the digital transformation through the manufacturing sector in the northwest.
The initiative, which was now seventh year, provides grants funded by matches of up to 20,000 pounds to help small and medium -sized manufacturers adopt advanced technologies such as robots, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IOT) and added manufacturing.
In addition to financial support, enables eligible companies to access fully funded technology consultations, implement the strategic digital road, driving and skills training, and student status opportunities – designed to help companies enhance productivity, flexibility, growth and sustainability.
One of the companies that already reaps the benefits is SPORTS ASHUN-WENER-LYNE, which is based in Ashton-Lyne, and is a safety equipment manufacturer for customers including NHS, schools and martial art clubs. With the support of Made Smarter, the company invested in the CNC digital machine to automate its handicrafts – codification of productivity, waste reduction, and equipping its power operating with new skills.

Since its inception in 2018, Made Smarter 334 has supported technical projects Throughout the region. These investments are expected to enhance the total total value of North West (GVA) by 242 million pounds, and create 1300 new jobs, and Upskill 2,500 existing roles.
