From today, the central section of the red railway will be closed for 14 weeks. The closure of the green line will be allowed, due to the start of operations next year, to connect to the red track system at Ammunity Hill intersection and at the Nordau (Jaffa and Sarei Israel Streets) intersection – a step that creates the first light railway network in Israel.

The metro already happens

During the implementation of the work, the light railway will coordinate a brief service – from the north between Givat Hamivtar and Neve Yaakov and from the south between the central bus station and the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Light railways will not work in the nine stations between the Gifat of Hamiftar and the central bus station. According to both the Jerusalem Municipality and the Ministry of Transport, the coordination of the short service is necessary to work.

During the short service period, free shuttle buses will work between Jeffat Hamiftar and the central bus station, as it serves the city center and the Jerusalem municipality complex. Bus lines will be more frequent than Neve Yaakov and Pisgat Zev to the city and from southwestern Jerusalem to the city center. The bike rental service will also work.

Green Line

The Green Line will be the second light railway that works in Jerusalem after the red line, which started its operations in 2011. The Green Line will contain 41 stations and extend more than 20 kilometers from Gilo in the south to Mount Scopos in the north, through its money, the city center and the government institution. The first part of the line next year will be opened, after many delay.
