Israel has reached a decision that the massive new development center to be built by chip giant Nvidia will be in Kiryat Typhon, Globes has learned from a source close to the matter. The decision was made after a tender that lasted only four months, which included proposals from several local authorities in northern Israel.
On Wednesday, the Israel Lands Authority administration approved the allocation of lands exempt from tender. Following administration approval, the Israel Lands Administration Board is scheduled to meet soon to formally approve the decision with the signatures of the Ministers of Construction, Housing and Finance. Official approval from Nvidia is still required to complete this step. The company said in response that all alternatives are still under study.

The victory of Kiryat Tivon, which was considered an underdog in the bidding for many weeks, will put the local council on the employment map in northern Israel; With the addition of up to 5,000 employees within a few years.
Amit Craig, Nvidia’s chief development officer in Israel, recently said the company could employ up to 10,000 people in the country if it continues to grow at the same rapid pace.
This week, the head of the Israel Lands Administration, Yaakov Kvint, held a crucial meeting regarding the land on which the new center will be built. After the decision, district planning for the new center is expected to begin. At the same time, the state will issue a land tax assessment on the land.
Numbers behind the decision
In July, Nvidia issued a request for information (RFI) regarding plots of land available for construction in a specific search area it identified, on the line between Haifa Bay and the road connecting Zichron Yaakov and Yoknam to Migdal HaEmek. This is a large campus where, according to industry estimates, Nvidia is ready to invest NIS 2 billion in purchasing land and constructing buildings that will employ thousands of workers.
As Globes revealed, Kiryat Typhon last month became Nvidia’s favorite to win the tender. The chip giant’s hub is expected to be built in a new employment hub currently in the planning stages called Tivon Tech, where rights to build 120,000 square meters on 22.5 acres have been approved.
The technology park is located near the Kishon River and close to the Sha’ar HaMakim intersection on Route 6, meeting Nvidia’s standard for high accessibility from the Haifa area and the center of the country. The park also plans to build a transportation hub and another 11,000 square meters will be allocated to commercial space.
“The company continues to study all alternatives,” Nvidia said.
