Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), which has gained a global reputation for satellite and Heron series drones, and the conversion of passenger aircraft into cargo aircraft, unveiled a new armed drone called the Fire Storm 250 at the Association of the American Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Washington, DC. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), developed in collaboration with one of the world’s largest arms manufacturers, the Swiss company Sig Sauer, is a quadcopter (four-bladed drone) designed for tactical missions and equipped with an automatic machine gun.

IAI says the drone is designed for rapid deployment and to carry out highly precise lethal missions – mainly in combat in built-up areas and at short ranges. This allows troops to strike the enemy without being detected.
The Firestorm operates for up to three hours straight and can carry up to 200 shells. It is controlled using advanced control algorithms that maintain imaging accuracy even while flying and moving. The drone takes off and lands vertically, so the work to prepare it for the mission is minimal.
