The Israeli Ministry of Defense and advanced defense systems in Israel, the main contractor in the Iron Air Defense System, announced the completion of trials, before the regime was handed over to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the last quarter of 2025. From now, the regime was renamed by the Eitan ray, on the anniversary of Captain Estre, who was killed in Laban, one of the color. The Directorate of Research and Development (DDR & D) that has developed the system. In the English language, the system will now be named by laser.

The regime completed a series of experiments in a simulation facility, which has proven effective for the dome laser against missiles, missiles and mortars. These capabilities in addition to the operational capacity installed in the interception of drones, which were clarified during the war on the Lebanese border. These experiments were conducted with a new scene of 450 millimeters, instead of 250 millimeters, allowing an improved range of movement, high accuracy and high efficiency, especially for the 100 kW system.

The possibilities of doubling the objection within two years

During experiments, dozens of goals were intercepted in various circumstances and scenarios, although this does not guarantee complete efficiency. This is because the laser can fight in the cloudy, fog and foggy weather, which limits its activity and reduces its effectiveness. The system also works in a column and moves from the target to the goal. Therefore, the laser dome system will work along with the iron dome system, so that when dealing with the threat, the system will choose how to object. Each objection to the laser system will cost a few dollars, instead of about 30,000 dollars for the Iron Dome interception missile.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense is already working to double the capabilities of Laser Dom’s objection within almost two years. This will be done by the time when the laser dome becomes an integral part of the air defense system, along with the IAI’s Arrow 3, Arrow 2, and Rafael’s David Sling, along with the Rafael Iron dome.

The operational capacity installed on Israel is placed at the forefront of technology around the world, and Raphael will become the first to issue a 100 kW laser system. In August, the Australian Electrical Systems Company (EOS) signed a contract worth 71.4 million euros (82.3 million dollars) to provide this system to a European country that is a member of NATO.

In Europe in particular and in the world in general, there is an interest in laser -based defense systems not only because of the low costs of objection, but also because of the speed of light interception. The system is required to stay on a target for several seconds, depending on its size, material structure and extent, for its objection. Moreover, there will be positions in which the system will be chosen to intercept the iron dome, and the positions in which both are operated. Over time, the laser is expected to move from purely defensive use to offensive use.

Laser Dome is currently in a ground version, while a marine version of integration will be developed in marine ships. Today, as part of the multi -layer defense system, Magen Dome, the marine version of Iron Dome, as well as IAI’s LRAD, is installed on the Saar 6 ship. The laser will also provide the Magan Dome clips.

Visual fiber techniques

In addition, Elbit Systems, a laser supplier in Laser Dome, develops air laser interception capabilities. Elbit works with the Ministry of Defense, but technology is still in the research and development phase. Laser Dome is based on optical fiber technology. After realizing about two decades ago that the chemical project nortilus was ineffective and suffered from restrictions due to its toxicity, they turned into the optical laser fiber.

This technology is progressing due to the commercial market. For years, purchasing and manufacturing factories are used laser for cutting, and therefore the ecosystem has been created. The main difference between the commercial market and the defense market, where many higher powers are required. Also, the visual fibers of the laser are not the connection fibers, but the fiber is much thicker to withstand the required environmental conditions.

The El-OP, which was initially an independent company and obtained by Elbit in 1999 specialized in developing and producing optical systems, deals with the laser in Israel for 40 years and installed defense systems in aircraft. One of the most famous known in the world is Sky Shield (C-Music): the soft defense system for Dircm (under directional infrared measures) to protect civilian aircraft from missiles. EL Al Als are equipped with these systems.

In the laser dome system, the laser provided by Elbit consists of loudspeakers, each of which produces a certain amount of kilos. When combined together, a 100 kW laser can be created. The laser head receives all the energy from the loudspeakers and combines it in a beam that enters the RAFAEL launcher, which carries out the guidance, tracks and addresses the goals.

In short, the main feature of the air laser is air, as soon as it is possible, in its ability to deal with the atmosphere and disorders in the air that affect efficiency. Once the laser becomes air, it will be placed over disorders, clouds and fog, and it will be more effective.
