Gate Technology Ltd, a GATE group, has obtained a MICA license from MFSA this week, as it authorized the company to provide exchange and nursery services across the European Union. This was announced on September 1, 2025.
The Gate Group license is compatible with the framework of the new European Union markets in organizing encrypted assets (MICA), which enhances its push to the region and enhance the leadership message that compliance remains essential to the global expansion strategy.

Mika license to reshape the European encryption market
GATE joins a growing list of major global exchanges to secure MICA license in 2025. The new receivers include Coinbase, Kraken, Bitpanda, Bitvavo, Etoro, Crypto.com, Bybit and OKX, with each of them are now able to work in all European Union members under one bases instead of multiple national plans.
Coinbase obtained a MICA license in Luxembourg, while Kraken obtained permission from the Luxembourgish and Bitpanda regulator from German Bafin. Bybit and Bitvavo also got licenses from Austria and the Netherlands, respectively.
These licenses allow exchanges to provide services to the 450 million people of the European Union, which gives compatible companies a direct advantage as the requirements of MICA are paid with incompatible or highly dangerous exchange outside the market.
The MICA framework has become vital for exchanges aimed at competition in Europe, as it defines joint standards for consumer protection, transparency, corporate governance and capital reserves. With the regulations reaching a full impact this year, more than 50 approval exchanged, while more than 60 new applicants are still asking for compliance.
