Bitcoin conferences are ten cents these days. There is everything from the wide range Figas type events with 30,000 participants That BTC Inc. (Bitcoin Magazine) puts, on the small intimate gatherings of tens or hundreds of loyal Bitcoiners – or 10,000 of those present BTC Prague Gather in the Czech capital this year. They all serve a purpose and intend a specific place, and they are important for different people at different stages of their bitcoin trips, wherever they are.
Remo Carahletti joins the Vibrant and flawless Finnish landscape Bitcoin’s newest child on the bloc: BtchelThe first Bitcoin conference on a large scale in the northern European. On August 15-16 in Helsinki, Finland, the team attends names like Jeff Beth, Peter Todd, Jiacomo Zoku, Knut Svanholm and Adam returned to the Finnish capital. Less than a month before the event’s launch, we are talking about Bitcoin’s adoption, landscapes in Northern European countries and the need for another conference in Bitcoin.
JB: Remo, you are the CEO of the company BtchelNew Bitcoin conference and the first of its kind in Nordics – Why is another European event?
Levi: Well, I went to all the main Europeans AtlantisIoslo Freedom Forum, etc. – I felt that I had a lot of experience as a curator. I have worked in the compartments in many of them, as they organized events in the past. I had Bitcoin studied Since 2020, I worked with the European book publisher consensusAnd I felt that we have unarpsed potential here in the northern countries.
We manage this community center in the center of Helsinki throughout the year, where each person from the hard -line Bitcoiners to the random Plebs from the street. Some just come for the ATM Bitcoin, others are curious about Bitcoin, while others appear. (It also draws huge orange windows some attention.)
There have been a monthly meeting in Helsinki since 2014 with 30-40 people regularly, and we wanted to make something bigger-the return of the beautiful to society. When our five -year -old team met in August last year, we realized that we have all these non -connected initiatives in Finland: miners, various bitcoin companies, and active local community, Finnish Bitcoin AssociationAnd many people with technology (two editors. Note: Finland in number 5 on Bitnodes menu From the contract that can be reached, in a country with fewer people of Minnesota).
JB: What is the intended audience? Do you not think that another event of bitcoin would achieve those present from some of the well -known attendees?
Levi: No, not really. The northern landscape is an uncomfortable position, and it was just a matter of time before someone organized such an event. Many Bitcoin conferences and companies focus on large markets such as the United States or continental Europe, but you must really go to where others no Going.
I really don’t think BTchel competes with the largest European conferences. We definitely have a local competitive advantage here in that we may draw people interested enough to attend a two -day event in Helsinki, but they will not travel to Riga, Prague or Amsterdam, for example. It is clear that the hard -line bitcoiners like you and the ideals want to go to all of them, but there is always a large local audience no – people who are not part of the group. So far, we have had a lot of tickets sold to Germans, so I think we will have a great international presence as well. For BTchel 2025, we believe that we will get about 1000 and 20,000 of those present.
JB: Do you also have content in Finnish, or is it only in English?
Levi: Mostly English and international. Our Small side For Finnish offers, but this is about that.
JB: I have mentioned that some Finnish bitcoin workers have 200 copies of Nick Money’s book “Money Money” to send it to the Finnish parliament members. What was the response, and how does Bitcoin talk between Finn?
Levi: Yes, it was an enjoyable initiative in 2023, and we followed some comments, but we did not hear much. I do not think that most Finnish politicians hostile To bitcoin, however Bitcoin is nothing for them. The only thing that appears is the mining industry, as a proposal was made to impose taxes on miners more last year but did not pass.
JB: Why do you think that the Bitcoin coin did not take off in the northern European? It is a great technology area, with high -speed internet access everywhere, mobile devices, etc. What prevents Bitcoin’s adoption here?
Levi: I have a theory about this. As she says, the European North was early for technology and the Internet, especially in Finland with Linux and the movement of open sources, we have a lot of people interested in these topics. But Finland is a high-trust-peace society, with a lot of protection for private property and confidence in institutions. This is what Bitcoin does, so there is no sharp need for the solution that is Bitcoin. For ordinary people, it has no meaning.
JB: What is the idea with Btchel? Will you run this conference annually like most of the others, or, for example, every four years like Bitcoin Atlantis?
Levi: We are planning to do this in the long run, and we will put BTchel next year again. The spirit of the team and the basic value of BTchel is that it depends on society and the base of popularity. My vision of what we do here is that we build a very welcome place, open to everyone who wants to participate and learn. I have already made plans to expand next year to larger, so that we can make it accessible to Plebs and with the support of startups.
Usually all other major conferences are a company or a large sponsor behind it, so if they do not make a profit, they can still continue … with the negative side that they retract from that company. We don’t have it. We are Plebs, paid society, and we warn of a thousand to Z-and it is very likely that we will not be able to make a profit as well. We do this for the love of the game.
JB: So, how will you run the conference next year, then, if you don’t make a profit?
Levi: Oh, we will discover that. The price of Bitcoin may continue to rise and increase the value of the Ministry of Treasury in our company.
