Joal had an interest in bitcoin topics before actually born to the world. The developer of lifelong programs and technology lovers, as well as the general autistic purpose, is first interested in encryption technology around 2002.
His father was recently attended by Uday Shamir, the famous encryption source who participated in the invention of the RSA signing scheme, on ECash. The father and son conversation later, and Yuval is now aware of the signatures of the linkable episode, the problem of double spending, and the ECash concept. His journey began below the rabbit hole before the Bitcoin branch was removed to one shovel from dirt. He even ran Hashcash on Mailserver in the early first decade of the twentieth century.
Like many Bitcoin coin at the time (including I), Yuval saw the original Bitcoin article on Slashdot in 2010 and the entire idea rejected it as ridiculous and unlikely. Later in 2013, he realized that Bitcoin was still present, as he was wandering and producing a mass almost every ten minutes, but Yuval was still working to participate more.
Ultimately in 2015, he took advantage of a person’s offer to sell it, and that trick did. In fact, having some bitcoin itself was the last pushing he really needed to go to the rabbi.
Sinking
During the beginning of his time in this space, Yuval focused heavily on searching for different privacy currencies.
When he was asked what made privacy such an important field of focus for him, he said this: “The realization of my ridiculous impulses or your bad choice of wallet programs was recorded on the series for everyone to see, and perhaps made me an easy goal if Bitcoin was blocked one day.”
Despite all the different methods and possible progress of privacy currencies at the time, nothing was fully convinced that they were a solution despite all the progress they made in different regions.
“Although I realized that I really believe in bitcoin, the Antichrist kept me in an attempt to get to know all things. By this stage, the rate in which the new things that must be understood were made in size more than I could keep up with it, but it took some time to stop trying,” he said about that time period.
For a while, it simply extended to Reddit and Bitcoin Twitter, where he was running but he did not really participate to any degree alongside research and learning. The first community in which he actively participated was an open voice chat server called Dragon’s Den who heard about him in Bitcoin PodCast Block Digest (Disclosure: The author operated the chat server and participated in hosting the concerned podcast).
WABIS and Wasabi 2.0
Yoval was one of the designers of the WABISABI protocol that was implemented in Wasabi Wallet 2.0. Wabisabi was a protocol designed to facilitate Coinjoins from flexible sects instead of all the output that should be the exact amount. He was quick to point out that it simply combined an aspect of secret transactions and unknown accreditation data, which was highlighted by Jonas Nick that had already had initial models to implement ECash.
One of the important things to clarify is that Wabisabi is simply a mechanism that replaces the blind signatures of users to interact with the coordinator and accomplish Coinsoin treatment, it is not part of how to organize Coinjoin transactions or appear on a chain. However, it has been specially designed to allow the formation of Coinjoin transactions in arbitrary quantities without being a failure point that can weaken users trying to create such transactions to the coordination server.
While WASABI 2.0 applied the WABISABI itself, the ZKSNACKS team ignored almost all the research and work that Yuval has done on the structure of metal transactions the arbitrary amount. He has done this work to ensure that the transactions coordinated by Wabisabi were special enough, and the behaviors or transactions structures that could retract the user’s privacy after the truth were implemented.
“When a mistake occurred, the death of a thousand pieces, as the main reason for this was that Nopara73 and Molnard refused to learn anything about how to avoid the same mistakes that were already committed in the calamity (1.0).”
And expanding a scope, “he said:” Everything is from the choice of the currency, until the decisions related to the output values that must be used, for how long Coinjoins are performed, to how Tor is used, the corners were cut and implemented based on the absence of any understanding of the basic mathematics.
As a specific example of the general inefficiency he witnessed in ZKSNACKS, this said, “The truth” is a relevant “fun”, although Zksnacks for years claimed that they did not retain any records, the unnecessary use of virtual formation mostly to serve the website using the same host as the coordinator service that was actually kept in reality. “
Zksnacks has finally left because of his rejection of the corners that the company was cut off, and his unwillingness to participate in that.
Yuval’s current opinion about Wasabi Wallet, especially given the current environment of multiple people who operate the Wasabi 2.0 coordinators, is that no one should use a coordinated servant unless they trust in this server to not benefit from implementation defects and protocol to cancel them.
The condition of things
“Privacy is human rights, but in Bitcoin, it is also a personal safety problem for anyone or less on a long time long time.”
Yuval’s point of view in the current Bitcoin privacy is not the most prominent. He has a number of concerns with the general scene as it is now. Specifically, exchanges of rejection over their refusal to interact with users who use privacy tools. He sees nothing about the use of privacy tools that prevent you from selectively detecting information to the stock market when necessary.
He said: “There is a difference between sharing your information with the exchanges that you trust and the organizers of the extension and broadcast that so that the whole world will see.”
The indifference of users is something else that is concerned. Many users do not care about their privacy, even if they consider them, and the use of privacy tools among Bitcoin users is very small. In some social circles, there is a stigma about privacy. He said: “… indifference runs this stigma, which leads to normalization effectively the lack of privacy (.) Do not lose many customers if they refuse to serve customers who use privacy technology.”
It is not very happy with the current state of privacy tools either.
(PBUH) who are looking for “privacy portfolios”, sellers poisoned with snake oil. Their enemy in the brain worm has spent their time in shit in a dispute on Twitter instead of God allowed a school book or an academic paper. This toxic discourse also alienates users from users, feeds on indifference and eight. “
Ultimately, all these concerns are rooted in social issues, how people or companies act, and how people interact with the actions of others, etc.
“Without the user’s request enough for privacy technology and the normalization of the use of bitcoin is one of the hell of the monitoring tool.”
whirlpool
In September 2023, Yuval was appointed full -time by a full -time action on the research and development of Bitcoin privacy. Given that many problems related to current Coinjoin applications stem from their dependence on a central coordinator, Yuval decided to focus his work on decentralized Coinjoins.
As such, in a spiral coordinating decentralization in coordination and improving the ability to analyze and improve multiple transactions for privacy.
“My long -term goals are to see my most sophisticated ideas for Coinjoin. Privacy must have approximately 0 marginal cost, or that high fees will be back away from their use. It should also be a“ product ”that can make a rapid profit by deceiving unprecedented users. Finally, it should be strong and strong, against intersection episodes in the first place.”
(An intersection attack is an attack that benefits from mixed metal currencies that are spent in the same incorrectly transactions (transactions) to improve its history.)
It currently contributes to the Rust-Payjoin Library that Dan Gold to work for its final goal of the decentralized Coinjoin protocol.
Payjoin currently (specific) as a protocol for building cooperative transactions 2. Circulating it on multiple ends It provides the opportunity to do the third properly, and perhaps in any wallet. “
Hurry
Yuval believes that the covenants improve the value of the Bitcoin protocol, but it is believed that the current group of the era of the covenant has been presented to be more influential in the long term than it will be already.
“The current favorite, CTV+CSFS, looks an important step forward, but the way I see it will not be enough for the type of long -term improvements that we need for global adoption, even if CTV is circulated in TXHash.”
He is a fan of the VAROPS concept of the Great Rusty Russel suggestion to restore texts as a general mechanism to restrict more complex covenants or other roms to prevent them from making the validity of the mass healthy expensive for users.
“I am sad to say that I also find that many tribal discussions are disappointing, with many words that are spent in the argument in circles about the reason why the favorite visual symbol is the best hammer because a look at the number of problems that look like a specific type of nail if you are sufficiently hidden and I was on this meat and the highest of this non -elegant symbols to not share my preferences.”
In general, it is believed that the conversation about the covenants is badly managed, while giving a lot of focus on individual era proposals instead of looking at the types of cases we want to empower, which we do not want to empower, and work back from there to design appropriate proposals to serve the required cases of use.
Use it or lose it
Regarding what the medium bitcoin currency can do to improve their privacy, or support privacy in general, he had this saying:
“Accept that there is no magic solution, we are stuck with the bitcoin that we got as much as the transactions graph. Then evaluate the available solutions of solutions at reasonable and safe prices for use and use.”
Ultimately, privacy requires everyone to take action. So what do people do? Lightning provides some improved degree of privacy, still there joinmarket and waabi (with the evacuation of the responsibility from the top). Do what you can. Check the tools, check what you can, and make sure that you are appropriately thinking about who you are trying to stay from the private sector and the amount you will take to do so.
“Even if you do not think you need the privacy of the day, at least discover what you can use if you might need tomorrow, so don’t be busy. Also think that people who need that day cannot get it without those who can live without it, so if you want to get this option tomorrow, you should practice it today. Use it or lose it.”
